Good looking boat but that seems like a ton of money for a 30yr old original checkmate

Try to find a new one !! I sold this new / special ordered for the original (only) owners, colors, interior the whole works. I doubt it has 200 hrs. annually maintained and stored indoors by us, Absolutely none cleaner !! It could go back on the SHOWROOM !! I think it is worth every penny. Not a better performing or built ski / family boat today.

    It’s actually a Pulse 186, a 185 is open bow which I own. HP rating is 185.

Guess you could say it's worth what someone is willing to pay. Not like they make much like it anymore for an "Outboard family performance boat", all you get now is Pontoons or Wake boats that start many thousands higher than he's asking.
Not saying I agree with the price, just my opinion of if that was the kind of boat you wanted and what is available out there, not needing a complete restoration, it could be a consideration....I have a 1991 Pulse 185, that's as clean and original as his, I had a Checkmate back in the 80's and when I bought a house on a northern lake a couple years ago, I wanted another. Drove roundtrip over two days to Mooresville NC to get it.

I'd rather spend 20K on it and find a used 2 stroke than 80-100K on a new Bass boat. But that is just me to each their own. Ohh wait it has a motor....yeah good deal versus a wake boat
    best of luck with sale.

Its worth whatever its worth to someone who wants it. If that isn't you, then move along. Why all the negative comments about the asking price? Looks like a very nice boat and I'm sure its worth $20k to someone! Good luck with the sale.

If anyone thinks the asking price is high let them go buy a rotted out mess for 6k and see how much they saved buying that boat.

You have a well taken care of boat that looks to be in excellent condition, something you don't see much of in this day and age. I had a flawless BAJA 1992 186 WITH A 150 and miss it when its to ruff for the STV... GLWS.
When a new 14' Lund with a 4 stroke and trailer is about $6,250 and a S/S prop for a 3.0 is over $1,000, your listed price i feel is fair.

Did you even look at the Craigslist listing. That boat is a steal at 20K. I would drive to Minnesota for that if I wanted a ski boat.

Yes it's in beautiful original condition but I never thought a 33yr old checkmate with a basic 2.4 would be worth 20k. It was probably that much brand new. Also I'm sure the core needs to be redone unless it has been but then I'm sure it would of been noted. Also After looking at NADA I don't think I'm all that crazy.
