Here are pics from the other motor my brother took today. Doesn’t appear to be the same heads, are these the two piece head ? Should we stay away from this one? Click image for larger version.

If you have a 1989 2.4 200, then check the chrome bores. If in good shape, slap rings in it. What compression does it have on all holes? Remove all spark plugs, open the throttle open, and then spin over. Target is 120 psi. Rebuild the carbs, yank the oil injection, Shave the heads a bit, new Chris Carson reeds, yank the black boxes, and have fun. It’s a cheap rebuild if bores are ok.

Number on ecu might be on back of housing?
56lb fuel pressure regulator is black in color.
    39lb regulator, gold in color.
Hard to know how much it's been messed with, without a autopsy. Does have a nice flywheel!

    What vintage, and length Champion?

20ft 1988 champion, super clean boat we plan to keep, it was my ole mans boat.. Fish n Ski however that has all been removed and its deck now up front.
I am almost getting nervous and re-thinking about just rebuilding the old power head.

I will take a look, the old motor is still running on the boat, just gathering all the information now for next winter when we decide what's next.

prolly do that this weekend, I think we got a bit excited and grabbed the BP powerhead. I think re-doing the current motor might be smarter.

    I also have a 202 Champion.
If you told me it was 16' or 18', I would say try it, but a 20' Champ is a big deep boat.
I saw big gains in speed, and unfortunately fuel consumption, by removing a 200hp, 2.5l, and installing a 225efi, 3.0l.

#1 thing, check compression. That’ll tell the story on where to go from here

also, a 6” or so jack plate might help that 2.4 push that boat around a bit better. Read the setup stuff on bassboatcentral for your boat.

bore scope all cylinders looked perfect, I did not do a leak down yet. We plan to slap the BP on next winter but now we’re really re thinking it, replaced the water pump on the old V200, and now looking into why at WOT throttle it creeps upto being in the hot side, so Iam searching the site and everywhere to see the cause of that.

OK your motors in good shape with those compression numbers. Get a can of spray sea foam and do a decarb on it which is basically the way to remove the carbon out of the pistons and rings and such and it will probably come up a little bit on comp . If the water pump is new and in good shape, then you probably have gravel or debris in the divider plate between the motor and mid. Check your thermostats and poppet . It will be something pretty simple. If you have not already, remove all black boxes from that motor and also delete the oil injection and go to 50:1;premix.

If it has been sitting for a while, it is also time to replace fuel line from the tank to the motor including the bulb and also time to rebuild your carburetors and put new needles and seats in them for the floats.
