Merc XR2
I am in the process of putting a 1987 Merc. XR2 150 HP on a 18' 1979 Hydrostream Viking. I bought the motor from a friend who bought it new, It has 170 actual hours on it, still can see the cross hatches in the cylinders. about 139 #s of compression through out. it hasnt been run in three years. I put a Bobs nose cone with low water pickup on it with the Bobs exhaust outlet. I also put a set of Bobs carb velocity stacks and a set of solid mounts on it. I also put a set of CCMS Reeds in it, otherwise all stock, Im wondering if I will need to do any jet changing being I removed the intake silencer and added the velocity stacks ?? also looking for a recomendation on a prop, I also have a hydraulic jack plate on it, the boat has had the bottom and transom all rebuilt, so it is in nice condition. Sorry about the sideways pics. Dont know how to turn them ???

Nice mota. I have one of those too. The 2.0L are lots of fun and strong. For props there are a ton of options out there that all work well. If your willing to spend and you want to go as fast as possible a 26 or maybe 28 lightning et will make you very happy. Just be prepared for sticker shock.
other choices that work great are srx, small ear chopper 24,6,8, maybe even 30p. Big ear choppers work well too but might not be best with the 2.0L. Jetting probably ok. Only way to know for sure is to read the plugsHydrostream dreamin

XR2’s sound great too. They have a raspy idle that rumbles sonic joy. Fwiw a buddy of mine took his valero ( same hull ) to 80mph with a bone stock XR2 and a 28 et. Had the prop labbed twice to get there. Vkingmike a member here has an 150hp XR6 running mid 80’s
