I still see 25 year-olds running around chasing pokemon's with their phones - there is a wasted generation there.

Let's just go ahead and make America great again!

I am always pointing out Streams, and Allisons as he is on the wait list. All he ever says is it not a Tuff! I think I wrecked him haha!

Find an Alli (I’m kinda partial…..), rig it with something reasonable, blueprint the bottom and tell him to get lots of seat time!!
My son went from hydros to a 15R when he was 14 or 15….
started with a detuned 49ci Hustler then an SST 60.
The 15R currently has modded 90 Yami and runs around 80.
He’s 20 now and is started to run my original XR01 Mod VP with a 225 ProMax last year…..
As he gets more comfortable with the boat you just prop it bigger for more top end.
I’m probably preaching to the choir but seat time & supervision are critical if you want him to be a good operator.
Whats he got on order, a new 20’?

That is an excellent way to move up through the pad bottom experience!
Yes seat time and more seat time! It needs to be second nature, and not something the requires a wait and think!

His deposit is for a 16, that may change to a 20 though!

That 15r 90 combo would be a riot and a good one to get some seat time!

He gets some time in the 24, but not enough as I like my seat time too! We just cap the speed to 65, and with a little over trim it gives some good wheel experience. Also time to gather it up and trim down for boat wake etc. Again making it 2nd nature.

    congrats to your son TJ.

I've been trying to scrounge up a "beater hull" for my son, also 17 - He's got my triad into the high 70's comfortably a few times. Click image for larger version.

What ever happened to affordable "insert anything here".

Come on guys, it's not just go fast boats, it's everything. The used 1996 Honda Civic I got at 16 years old costs more now than it did in 2001. Blah blah blah. The dollar keeps devaluing. Multiple six-figure income households are the new middle class. Gotta work hard, work smart, and invest wisely to get ahead today's economy.

    P.S. I want a new Tuff 24/25. What a bitchen boat.

Sharpeye, what kind of weights are we talking on the V4? I do not want more the 270lbs on the back.

    moatorbotin, that is awesome!

Speed, I agree 100%. Also I think being creative and going against the grain can help when the pursuit of speed has a budget.

A cross flow V4 is around 100 lb.

you could buy a T race boat for your son to use for learning to drive, and just because they are the most fun one can have at 60

A 60 degree OMC would probably be the lightest one of all. The 115 HP pushes my 18, Charger with ease.

I would say closer to 300!

V-4 cross flow to 140 hp and looper (my choice) to 130.

Sorry for the typo. A V4 looper was around 300 lb, and lighter than the 60 or 90 degree loopers. I will look up the weights once I finish reading Blue Thunder.
