Anyone who has not read the book "Rich dad, Poor dad" owes it to themselves to do so. Larry is exactly right, when inflation hits like we knew it was going to "read some old post and check the dates on my statements", a what would normally be a depreciating asset suddenly holds its value better then cash and you are also able to enjoy it or its ownership benefits. Our dollar is following what every other major currency has done in the past. Give yourself a history lesson and look it up. We will soon be carrying 500.00 and 1000.00 bills on our person and it will be no big deal.

I know I am strange but I have always secured jobs that I loved and for the most part were as fun as my Hobbies [too many to name]. I was sent through the top management courses of the day and they always pushed that having debt and other pressures would make you try harder to succeed. I never bought into that reasoning and applied myself to each job while still maintaining all of my expensive/exciting hobbies. Being able to Make my work one of my hobbies was a blessing [I am retired three times] and the Lord blessed me with my finances [as long as Biden does not crash the Markets]. I bought my first Hydrostream Vampire in 1976 with a 200 Johnson for $3K cash. I still try to keep the practical side of life and purchases, using a clear view. I feel bad for the younger generation that may not enjoy the blessings that we had.

I hope their predictions are correct. When you are talking about swings less then half of 1%, you are really splitting hairs that nobody will notice. C.C. debt is like V.D. (easy to acquire if you aren't careful, and very hard to eradicate).

Yes that's probably true, but those people will also lose their cars, boats, and houses shortly after they start missing minimum credit card payments... which I referred to earlier.

That wouldn't be so bad... it's the "live fast, spend the next 40 years in a wheelchair" that always bothered me.

I imagine we all have "invincible" friends who turned out to be "vincible"... and you either wish you weren't there when it happened or you wish you were there to save them from it.

One point of view is this. People are guaranteed to get old and decrepit even if you live a slow paced wonderful life. Sometimes it’s good to enjoy things while you are young and can still do the things you love because tomorrow is promised to no one.

There's a million different reasons why. One reason I think moreso than any is financing. Easy to keep wages down when you can convince everyone they can afford things with payments. The financing industry has taken over. Post WW2 was the gold standard for the middle class, and it's been slipping ever since we strayed from that societal model.

I agree David but I have friends that have literally died from sitting on the couch. I ain't going that way. I'll take my chances living & if it happens to be at a 100 in a 18 foot boat then oh well. RR

Yeah, well, now pushing 60 I don't worry about 40 in a wheelchair any more, either.

Its also the decay of the middle class in the USA since the 80's.
Might change after this crash as the USA will needs lots of skilled workers for its forthcoming 3rd industrial revolution when it re starts making everything.
