Is that possible... or is something else wrong? Never heard of that and I've helicoiled a bunch of spark plug holes over the years.

I pulled the plugs this fall and five plugs are clean and the one with the coil is black. never look anymore into it. My thought was that, that plug wasn't transferring heat into the head because of the helicoil.

Maybe, but normally it would be the other way around... cold plugs foul - hot plug would be ash white or melted?

If that hole was detonating and wrecked the threads you have a bigger problem but the piston would probably show damage???

(Snowmobiles will rattle the plugs loose if they detonate... if you run them with loose plugs they blow out the threads (hot gas going past & high pressure).

Anyway, I'm just saying... don't buy a set of heads if your real problem is a dirty injector or a bad switchbox.

yea, mines is in the back corner of the pole barn. a bad switch box would affect more than just one plug, right? maybe a weak coil. Have to talk with WinTech and see what makes sense to test. Hell could be a bad plug. Nothing like winter, to get you to sit and think about what could be wrong.

Yeah, there's a limited number of things but I just don't think the helicoil is one of them.
