Garmin has larger bezel I am told a little more user friendly. The Simrad has more features lower profile and it is what vessel view from mercury uses and comes with depth the garmin you have to pay extra for depth if it is not xsv no depth. It is like Apple vs Android Android does more but you have to know how.You can know make either a vessel view used to be only simrad gave you the merc display with the vessel view link but know I have the Garmin Link to turn a Garmin to a V VIEW.

In 2020 I chose the Vessel View which is the same as the Simrad GO Series for a single 450. They are made by Simrad but the Merc may (you'd need to verify) incorporate some additional features like sport vs stealth exhaust, plus the active trim, smart tow and troll control interfaces if you want to add these. Mine is the 7" which is the largest that would fit and it's big enough because I have Livorsi gauges and use the VV for navigation while underway. If you're going to be doing multiple things on the screen then go larger. If you need to go to as large as 12", which is huge, it may necessitate going to Simrad. Another plus is the warranty is with Mercury.

You can now go any size with the new links . I have done a couple 19" Simrad as a V View . Once you buy the link you can also run multiple displays . On my 28 I had a 9" simrad go for trim and water pres. and 1 5" for a Speedo and another 5" FOR Tachs .You can set any display just to show what you want

That is what a 903 will look like in my lower dash it is a g09 .The only difference is in the 02 vs 03 model number on the v viewis is the Simrad that comes with it touch GO9 or If you are a fisherman you can do the NSS9 They all show the same mercury features .The NSS has more NON mercury features. There is an advanced Veiw link that has more features like sky hook and other stuff Idont use or need.

I love the VV903. Installed in my last two boats. 300r and 450r. Wouldn't change it for anything since the Merc App that it comes with gives sooooo much more engine data, history, recall, etc.

I had VV Link tied to Lowrance on my last boat with a 450. It lacked a lot of punch for me. You got barely more information than what is available over NMEA 2000. On my new boat with a 450 I skipped the VV Link and just went NMEA 2000 and created my own gauge page to see all my specific data.
