Maybe you can find something that looks like this. It is a solas prop. do some research most new propellers have interchangeable hubs like pictured aboveLast edited by Jim Speros; 02-05-2023 at 05:10 PM.

I have only one prop (10x14) for this 50hp, and I haven't been able to find anything more aggressive since it's the 11 spline pre-1969.

I appreciate all your help Jim. I think I would have to see some results with this prop before I could invest in another one. Probably looking at around $300, I imagine. I would probably rather go the 70 route instead, with the rebuilt transom.

Peter probably has some, he's been at it for decades. If not 101/2 - 3/4 then likely a 10 with some work and pitch that he'd hub 11
But it sounds like $ is the factorLast edited by FMP; 02-05-2023 at 05:36 PM.

That may be the best route. But before you do that see what you can find to try prop wise. I am not suggesting a new stainless prop. A good aluminum will be much less but, I am suggesting finding something used or borrowed to show you some promise for your efforts. Very few if any guys here simply put an engine on and are satisfied. Everybody works thru the best prop for their boat and set up. Some people never stop trying new or different props.
Even if you put the bigger engine on you will likely find yourself working thru prop options. Its trial and error. No simple chart to tell you the best prop.Jim

Another suggestion I have is start a log book. Note everything you do. Each and every adjustment and change with your thoughts. Build a data base of your efforts. Its easy to run in circles without keeping track.

Adding cup to a prop can also make all the difference in the world. Read a little about “tip cup” as this can really help a prop bite the water and decrease slippage
1990 Shadow bass boat w/ 2.4 200 Merc. Totally resto'd boat and love it!

I did cut 1" off and I'm going to try it tomorrow without(and with if necessary) the SE Sport 300 hydrofoil. It's super easy to put it back if needed.
