I am another victom waiting on a part from Mercury

I started the thread before I found the part. Found the part a day later and did not wait for the 28 Feb possible ship date. I love the motor but it sucks when Mercury sales motors without enough spares to support them.

Why does your dealer HAVE to get the part directly from Merc? Why can't they do a dealer-to-dealer transfer if another dealer has the part? Your dealer should be able to send the other dealer the bad alt. to send back to Merc to warranty it. It all sounds crazy to me. I have a 300R and this kind of stuff scares me!

Why would another dealer do this for free, when they can sell the alternator to a customer or install it under warranty and make money on it?

I do assume, that Mercury will supply you the Alternator when the stock arrives?
You can then have 1 as a spare?
