Carbon Fiber transom tabbing?
Has anyone used carbon fiber to save weight for tabbing in Coosa stringers/transom or is the cost not worth it vs say 1708?

I would generally stick to the 1708. You don't mention what resin and that matters also. You need good resin with carbon.

From what i researched fiberglass is stronger than CF. CF is much lighter and with double the layers is stronger but to be really sound needs special resin and vacuum bagging. I gave up looking down this road pretty quickly though so i could be wrong on some or all of that. I found this channel and this was helpful for me to see layups done. They used CF quite a bit in their build, maybe you could message them and ask pro/cons

Dont get bluffed with things made from pre preg carbon , its at least twice as strong as wet layup carbon, hence how structures can be lighter.
Carbon is stiff but in elongation S glass is stronger. Weave direction and makeup critical to making carbon things strong.
Most things we see made in carbon we are looking at the twill, which is just bling for the customer, under is uni and double biax in most cases when strength counts.
