    Hydrofoils

    Test Drive - Candela

The claim is that a hydrofoil is more efficient than a traditional boat. I think it could be true for an electric boat lugging all those batteries around. I doubt a hydrofoil is more efficient than my SS2000.

And not I don't think E boats make sense, at least for my use. But they are interesting.

Turning a prop in water and pushing a boat takes huge amounts of battery power and drain. At present, it's not practical. There are people building small displacement cats that will run a while on batteries, if you like going 5 mph.

A friend of mine operates one of the Candelas on Lake Austin. Its a pretty cool ride. Smooth and quiet.

The future is bright! Lot's of potential to leverage in ground effect, hydrofoil, thermodynamics, electromagnetism and software into an aggregate application. \jmo

I'd rather be outside in the cold then in a Canadian airport these days.
