merc i.d. location
where would i find serial # on a 300 two stroke

ill take a stab since it's been a few days without a reply, i have a 225 96 3.0 the serial # is on the bottom of the block on the starboard side, the lower cowl was in the way so I didn't really see if until i took that off

So im not really in the 300hp club yet only messing with the older 2.5s, 225 3.0 - I thought maybe the welsh plug popped out because there is a hole on the upper port side, popped out like some of the serial numbers do, but i happen to find the actual welsh stamped on the lower starboard side - again this is a 1996 3.0 litre 225 maybe similar block to the 300 u have??
And hopefully by now you dont use the mid section serial number for the powerhead serial number, it could be a good comparison as mids can interchange but best to find the powerhead serial
