    New Mercury 400hp v10

    Hello

Is there any reports about these new v10 Verados at catamaran sport boats like skaters?

Power to weight ratio seems quite good, and compared too old 400r v6, there is more torque because of bigger diplacement. Why I am asking is, that prize seems to be much lower than 450r...

My main concern is, there is no option for sportmaster??

    Any reports or experience?

The R version with the Sporty hasn't been released yet. Hopefully soon. Should be a great upgrade from the prior 400r model.(which was a SC Inline 6, not a V6)

Tjoki where are you getting your figures from? The published weight of the v10 is higher than the 400r and I don’t see the torque being much different. I believe the v10 advantage will be lower octane requirement and lower cylinder pressure/lower engine stresses for longer life.

400r from Mercury Racing for cat boats etc with sportmaster is coming later this year. My guess during Mercury 50th anniversary when they release the 500hp as well.
I would expect minimum of 435hp from Racing with the R versions.
They will weigh a tad more than current 400r i6 and be taller as well.

Representatives from boat manufactures; Lund, Caymas, and Ranger give their assessments of a single Merc 400 V10 clamped on their fishing boats.
“Good torque … smooth … quiet”

Not on a catamaran, but helping a Pontoon boat plow through the water.

I have ran the new V10 on several different boats and was very impressed. It has WAY more torque than the old I6 400. It was also a couple mph faster than the I6 400 on the boats that I was familiar with the performance of. It is also quieter and smoother than the V6 and V8 Merc 4 strokes. Once the R comes out with sportmaster options I don't think anyone will be wishing for the I6 back.

He has to hold his head-up with his hand, because the wind is blowing his head backwards.
