SODA drag boat club is having a race october 14 at the Marion county park location. Same site as the old odba races. The river run will be the week before

Well, we talked it over last night and Lake pal, myself and one other river runner solidified plans to attend last night. This has been on my bucket list and I’m pretty pumped about it!

Looking forward to seeing the sights and meeting some of you.

We plan to get there early Friday afternoon to get some boating in. Where should we go Fri? Anyone wanna run with us?

Depends how much daylight you have to burn. You could put your boats in just below Nickajack Dam and run on Guntersville Lake. Or you could just go through the Lock on the water too, but this can be time consuming depending on the schedule with the commercial barges. On Guntersville There is a BBQ place that you can get to by water that is pretty cool. Or you could run all the way to Goosepond Marina (about 35 miles 1 way from the Dam) where they have food, gas, golf ect... Guntersville is mostly a straight line though... Pretty lake but not as fun to river ride as Nickajack

Some friends and I have a little shack on the water on North Guntersville. Ill most likely be down there on Friday. You all could meet up with me there and we can ride around some if you feel like it.

On the map you got Hales Bar circled in Red, Nickajack Dam circled in Blue and our "lakehouse" circled in Yellow. Right next door to the lake house is a public boat ramp.

There is a sandbar to hang out at that isn't far away.. Also the BBQ place I mentioned. Its called Mud Creek Fishing Camp Restaurant. Pretty good food.

We would love to run a bunch of miles Friday afternoon & be off the water by dark. We are up for running wherever y'all recommend, thanks. Not afraid to lock thru depending on barge schedule, been thru hundreds of locks.

theres a chance i wont be able to get there til friday/early saturday morning. is there gonna be any running saturday and sunday?

The weekend of May 5Th? Yeah we will be running to Chattanooga Sat and Sun.

If your talking about in the fall during the boat races I don't think very many people ride on Sat and Sun because they are watching the racing.
