Water temperature gauge advice needed
So I have a newly built 225X and water pressure is great. My hand under the water I'd guess what's coming out is 115-120 degrees.
I bought a new temperature gauge and sending unit. Problem is the hash marks are at 100, 150, 200, and 250 in about a 90 degree sweep. The needle barely moves above 100.
At 4500 rpm I have ~17 psi water pressure. I've searched for a gauge with a full sweep closer to 270 degrees but I'm not finding what I need.
Any suggestions? It's 2 1/8"\\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\///

Get the old smartcraft gauge. It'll show you what the computer sees.

Brucato will not support smarcraft.
Faria makes a 2-1/8 gauge thats 60 to 220 deg. works great on outboards. I have three in my dash, one for each head and one for water temp. I have an extra one or two at home if you want a used one. I use them with 1/8 npt senders but they also come with a contact type one that mounts on a screw. Let me know if I can help.

I was not aware that it would no longer support smartcraft with the aftermarket ecu. I ran Garmins on my 300X rigs.

[QUOTE=TraceF3;3370548]So I have a newly built 225X and water pressure is great. My hand under the water I'd guess what's coming out is 115-120 degrees.

I have not seen a 270* sweep temperature gauge. Is this Livorsi gauge a bit better Trace? Not ideal but perhaps slightly better.

Yessir. A 225X block with a laser intake. He drilled out the 2 water passages and tapped in flow restrictors, and set this powerhead right on my 280 mid. I'm at the low starting end of the 2.5L learning curve; I thought a 225X is a ProMax. I told Dave from the get-go that I'd have to trust him to give me what I felt I needed. And I think he has.
I live in a county where I run 20 miles in a 25 - 30 mph speed zone before I get to water (Lake George) where I can run fast. And then the lake may be rough if it's windy because it's a pretty big body of water. So consequently, my boats rack up most of the hours below 3500 rpm. A race built 280 isn't the ideal motor for my application so I went looking for a better alternative.
Dave was a pleasure to deal with. And the motor runs great.Last edited by TraceF3; 12-08-2022 at 06:44 AM.
