FS: 1989 Mercury Black Max 200 Project

Hello Scream and Fly! After lurking for quite some time and getting lots of valuable information from the site, I figured this is the right place to list this project, as there seems to be still some folks running these around here.

This engine came with my last project boat, and up until about halfway through the project it was supposed to go back onto the boat after it's finished, but then a much newer Yamaha came my way unexpectedly and I couldn't say no to the offer. Needless to say, I was already about halfway through with the restoration of the Black Max and had purchased a ton of things for it already. So here is a 200 Black Max that with some time and not much more in parts will be a really nice runner. All parts I have, as well as the original Mercury service manual will go with the engine.

When we bought the boat we had the engine running, started right up from cold, idled beautiful, but couldn't do a sea trial as it was in the middle of winter. Seller was honest about pretty much anything else about the boat, so I take his word that the only problem the engine had was the voltage regulator (which a new, improved one is included in the sale) was the only issue it had. Engine has all new coils, wires, plugs, carbs had been done in 2020, new solenoids.

The engine is broken down for re-assembly and will need new powerhead mounting studs/nuts/washers. It was a MAJOR amount of work to separate the powerhead from the intermediate unit. Read all about everywhere online with those motors. But only by separating them, everything that should be replaced and renewed during a full engine project can be reached. Every indication I have about this motor is that at least in the last decade(s), it hasn't seen saltwater. Came off a lake boat. Cowling parts are faired and primed, ready for any custom or stock paint job.

Parts included are (might be more, but this is the major stuff):

    - Very good used swivel bracket/steering yoke (looks almost new)
    - Complete water pump kit
    - New Binnacle Control
    - Powerhead/intermediate housing gaskets
    - New CDI Electronics 40amp Regulator ($500)
    - Cowling lock levers (old ones broken)
    - New zincs
    - Original printed Mercury Service Manual and tons of other digital information
    - a bunch of other stuff I can't remember...

Looking for $1,200 OBRO for everything as described. Ready for pickup in CT. Definitely can help loading onto truck, etc.
Please ask if you have any questions!
