Well found a jewel of a part
Digging around in some parts today and low and behold I found a rare upper bearing adapter , Mercury made a small bearing crank adapter that adapted to the large bearing 280 late 260 and or drag blocks what a find. !!!

Looks exactly like small bearing crank cap for early 260 but larger to fit big bearing crank block
