    2.5 exhaust tuner

I'm in process of getting two hydros going and I have one exhaust tuner that is a one piece tuner and also a spacer plate about 1/4" thick that covers all of the top of the midsection and the entire bottom of the engine, all in one casting. I'm starting to think there was only one made and I have it. There is an abundance of what looks like a bolt on tuner that i bought and it won't remotely fit. I'm just about ready to fabricate one with an aluminum plate, heavy alum sheet metal and a lot of welding and fitting if I can't find one. The one I have is in an assembled engine on a boat, but I may have to remove it to copy, if so I'll take a picture of it if it comes to that. It is a twelve inch mid.

You have a 12” tuner plate. Whole different animal from a 15” that has the bolt on tuner.

That is pretty close to what I have one of and looking for another. The one in the picture looks like it might have started out like mine but someone worked it over with a welder. If $2,000 is a realistic price (which I seriously doubt!) I have to thank you for helping me make the decision to buy or fabricate one from scratch, I start work on one first thing in the morning. I'll try to post a picture of the final product in the very near future. This is the type of work I do in my shop anyways. If you are familiar with the four cylinder 44 cu in merc that is used in several hydro classes, I felt the crankcase was too flimsy when you more than double the horsepower. Here are a few pictures of the crankcase I made from billet 7075 aluminum.Click image for larger version.

It's nice to know that there are more than one made as I was beginning to think from my hopeless searching. It looks like the shorter of the two is the perfect one for a 12" mid. It would be nice to see dyno data on the tuners, I heard about a guy that removed his powerhead at the end of the season and found a broken off tuner laying in the bottom of the mid section and never saw a performance drop.
