    Help identifying Old Merc 2.4

    Hi All,

I'm hoping somebody could help me find information on this motor.
I purchased it with the boat and was told it's a 2.4L. It's got velocity stacks and an offshore type exhaust- just wondering if it might be a special model or if it's been installed aftermarket.
Appreciate any insight. Thank you in advance

It's a very early v6 (old bolt pattern). Look behind timing arm and you may find a date stamped in the block. Not sure if they were lettered this early but there may be letters stamped both sides of the parting line. If you find that info post it. May go a long way in identification. Looks pretty clean.

The velocity stacks look like old Land & Sea aftermarket pieces.

...just a guess, as we will know for sure after you show crankcase half numbers, but...it looks like a '83 to '84 transitional block 200 vertical reed motor...

I have 4 sets of them that are garage trophies including two "six pack" manifolds. One manifold was set up for nitrous.
