I had a brand new Livorsi GPS speedo and antenna installed in my new STV back in 2010 and it gave me issues. It would always pass the calibration process when the ignition was turned on. I would be driving along and sometimes the needle would bounce or even go to 0 at will. I sent it back to Livorsi and they tested it and said there was nothing wrong with it. So I cut off about 3" of the antenna cable at the head end, re stripped it and re crimped new solder-less connections and it fixed it... never had another issue.

The speedo goes through initiation process when the ignition is turned on but fails to acquire a signal. I bought the unit used. Think it might have the wrong antenna. Gaffrig tested the unit and said it was ok. The antenna doesn't say gaff rig on it which leads me to believe its the wrong one for my application. Thanks for the reply

Is it one of the older style antennas with the internal battery? Could you post a photo? These antennas were round with a top you could unscrew. The battery was round & soldered to a circuit board, some have had success replacing the battery. There was a in-depth write up on the antennas with the internal battery on another forum I found when trying to figure out the problem I was having. I think I just googled Livorsi GPS antenna. I will see if I can find it again.

It's the new style...no internal battery. Gaffrig says I have to retain the three prong connector and solider it to the new antenna lead. I'm wondering if there's a way too test the antenna.
