Lightest drag hydro?
From my street racing days I have always been obsessed with weight, such as an insanely small radiator that plagued me terribly. Now I have what could be a contender for lightest drag hydro. 564 lbs ready to run, motor, (2.5 mercury drag) battery and fuel tank. Incidently, it doesn't float unless there is a driver at the wheel and then it is less than one inch from taking on water. I warm it up on the trailer, then have a couple of friends slide it off and point it out in the river. When I return I have them catch the hydro as shut it down close to the trailer. As a winter project I am considering several places where weight could be removed to achieve my ultimate goal of 499 lbs. BTW, my street car was a 427 hilborn injected side oiler ford in a 76 honda civic.

Stick around, even though I have always been known for taking everything I do to extremes, I have a project in the works that will be my ultimate. I am deep into it and have pics and video. I am afraid I may have surpassed my "courage" level with this project and may possibly be looking for a younger man with steel nerves to be the pilot after I am confident that it won't be a death trap. I can simulate a drivers weight and test it via radio control before even considering a live person. After several test runs at a certain power level go smoothly I would back the power down somewhat and consider a live driver for a run under perfect conditions.
Before I post it I'll post a few other "extremes" in projects before I lay the "ultimate" one on you.
