They didn't provide much "notch" for the standard sun tab to go into. Lots of meat there to grind / file your notch's a little deeper, with a sharp inner corner.
No worries then about the tab slipping out of the recess ..

Hmmm I have one that came with one of my streams that I thought was simply a smaller tab version but maybe it was cut too? Hard to say. Works ok, not great just ok. Wish Merc did like OMC and used a pin instead of these awkward finger biting tabbed washers. I've thought about drilling and pinning but so far so good, havent lost any props. I keep the nyloc nut fresh though

990344 tab washer mercury - or just get a kit https://www.westmarine.com/mercury-m...661743.htmlyou can reuse the locking tab washer over and over. They make thick ones, and thin ones. I get the thin as swap props so much. Also, I have never had one spin off. Even running a SRX that doesn't have the locking castle thing on the prop and you need to cut the nut in half, it stays on with the nylock plenty good. Now if you were going to put a prop on and leave it for the next 10 years you may want to check it every so often!
here is the cheapest I found. And I use these all year, multiple years actually and I take my props off every time I go out and often multiple times a day if testing.
