That is the air box, intake manifold, and throttle cam linkage of a horizontal reed motor. Had an oiler based on the block off plate. Two piece heads. imma say up to 1987, 2.4/200.*

Unless… didn’t some of you S&F legends say there was a horizontal reed 2.4/150?

The number on the plug scores nothing on Crowley’s lookup page, with or without a leading zero.

*six months ago, I would not have known this stuff to save my life. I learned it all here from the legends of S&F.

Thank you for the expanded version Mr FUJIMO.. I’m knot <~~€ the most technical mariner in the sea, but apparently I own the only 1985 P-max on the planet Lol
nonetheless, whatever it may be, it pushed my 17v with a 27 Mazco Re to.. everyone just calls you a liar , and then tells you to let out ( not so politely) before you get there fast…said to have broke 90 by previous owner with a 29. But I fell way short of that.. by a km and a 1/2 …. Thanks again! Good evening sir.

Thank you for your reply sir. I thought it was a 2.4. Previous owner was told it was a 150 with 200 power head that had a build done by Reynolds’s Racing. I can clearly see that the heads have been off at some point. I honestly never noticed the “P-max “ on the title until I was contemplating selling it. The little 17v was totaled in an auto accident. I’ve hung onto it as spare for my F-20 and tried the coned lower off it on the
Astro(Procraft) hull. I too have came up empty running the numbers. . Thanks again

That certainly jives with my guess in my post above. But where did you get the confirmation? The number on the Welch plug? I had no luck with Crowley on that front. Which decoder did you use?

So I have a 2.4 / 200 that’s titled as a 150? Any clue why it may be this way? Could it have been retitled as a build perhaps?

Original motor was prob a 150. It melted and someone tossed on a 200 power head. Happens all the time. Welcome to scream and fly!

Thank you sir. I’ve read a lot on here and it seems to be a really great bunch of guys. Vast amounts of knowledge, and what I really appreciate is the willingness of others to pass it on!!!
