Exclamation Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and Bell P-63 King Cobra Collide at Airshow

I was horrified to see this. This happened a few hours ago at the Wings Over Dallas Airshow. Looking at the video, it's difficult to see how this could have happened. Prayers and heartfelt sympathy for the families of the lost pilots.

At the ground viewpoint of the video, I would assume the Pilot Error was by the King Cobra pilot.

I think, I have seen that B-17 Flying Fortress at air shows in Southern California. Very Sad!

Let's not jump to conclusions........before the collision the P63 burped a puff of smoke in the video taken overhead. I wonder if the pilot had a power problem?

very old equipment. Many factors possible. The bank the p63 was on would affect visibility of the bomber too. Looks like lots of little factors here

Certainly is a tragedy. As WWII veteran pilot, my father was given a ride in the B17 "Sentimental Journey" by the Commemorative Air Force in 2017 when they visited North Bay, Ontario. This will be a great loss to an organization that does so much good.

    "Confederate Air Force"... probably?

Just looking at the banking of the plane and the arc he was on... I doubt if he ever saw the B-17.
It looks like he would have had to be looking out the floor between his feet to see it?

Let's just go ahead and make America great again!

They do not call themselves that anymore. They became "woke" years ago. And that is when I was done.

There are certain protocols in an engine out situation, if that was the case. Did not look like that worked out well at all.

And as you say, "Let's not jump to conclusions". A puff of smoke could mean nothing.

The P63 was going much faster than any other aircraft. I'm sure the NTSB will investigate this.
It could have been malfunction, pilot health issue or just a screw up.
A tragic loss of life and aircraft none the less. RIP pilots involved.

Spokesperson with the Commemorative Air Force at 17 mins.

Yes it was. I have a certificate from the Confederate Air Force and donated $750 to them back in 2004. But "Confederate" was deemed offensive. Just like the flags, statues, and even the damn garage door pulls.
