While I have to agree it was unusual and innovative it also put a lot of other racers in serious peril. He let go of the steering wheel and just let the thing eat. No idea if this would work or not. They threw Bubba 'race card' Wallace under the bus for taking out one car. This could have taken out a whole lot more. Personally, I think he should have been penalized and I will bet there is a new rule in place next year if not sooner.
