I just read on Facebook that Fastbass Marine is having 8 XR2001s made. I could have a lot of fun with one of those, but some days I need a boat that seats 4.
Truthfully I need a boat that seats 8, but 2 boats can work.

The available XR2001 slots are gone. It sounds like it didn't take long. Reach out to Tim at Fastbass Marine or Trace at Mallard Marine. They may build more if serious inquiries are made.

Didn't Allison make 4 of those boats a few years ago? A bud had the blue boat and the red boat.

The giantism movement in outboards is taking it’s toll on good boats like Allison. Not to mention re powering of good older boats.
My dream boat as a recreational boating dad with a wife and two little girls would be an XB2003 with a carbureted 2.5/200. Not worthy of any glory here at S&F, but would be solid for our needs.

You are probably thinking of the limited batch of XR-2002 which had not been made for about 20 years.
I am sure if there was demand for new hulls of these models Allison we would still be making them.

Allison made 3 or 4 XR2002s a few years ago. It is a different boat then the XR2001. The XR2001 is either a single seater or tandem.

I know that hull. But no, I am specifically talking about the XB2003. As a family man, a bow-rider would be best, but a bass boat is better than a fully closed bow. And I agree with wbcarlyle back in the second post of this thread… The demand for the boats that will float no bigger than a 2.5 is drying up because the supply of 2.5’s is drying up and increasingly as a prosperous society, people are scared of used motors and increasingly lack the skills for basic maintenance. Since today’s 90/115 class weighs what the previous generation 150/200 weighs, the writing has been on the wall for Allison.

I always wanted a grandsport until I bought my XB 2003. I had it one year after selling my Xb-2002, but missed the punch of the 02. So back to the 02 I went. You're correct, the 02 is the perfect all around compromise go fast boat. If I win the lottery, my first road trip is to TN with a suitcase full of cash for a CF bassracer. We'll see if Darris can say no to that.
Don't get me wrong, the grandsports are beautiful rigs. Always loved Walderas.

But is there enough real demand for the engines? I look at the PWC stuff and it appears the tech to build a lighter outboard exists. But how many would they sell? A dozen a year like at the end of the 280 era? Lot of bitching about the prices is mostly what I remember from the end of the two stroke era.

Allison built four 2016 XR02s, I owned the blue and red one.
People say they want the new Allison race boats until they hear the price haha. 50k with trailer and some options. Rigging, motor, can add up to $80,000 real quick.
