    Prop for 4 Stroke

New member here. I am about to repower with a new Mercury 250 ProXS 4 Stroke and am needing to select a prop. I have a Basscat Eyra so it's a bass boat application and I've been running a 26 Fury with the old 2 Stroke; however, I know most of the prop applications for a 4 stroke are a bit lower in pitch. My question is does anyone have thoughts or insight on if the 14" Fury or a larger diameter prop such as the Tempest Plus at 14 5/8" would work better on the 4 stroke. I'm certain that testing with the boat/motor combo will be the only real way to know but just trying to land in a good area with this first prop choice. Thanks for any insight or thoughts.

Get numbers with your existing prop. I'd go with a Bravo XS. However the 4 strokes seem to have the torque to spin a bigger prop than you think. I use a 25" bravo XS when fishing (have a 20' Lake and Bay backwater, TM 2 lithium batteries, 1 agm, 2 10' blades, 10" bobs and a 300R Torquemaster). With a fishing load I can spin it around 6230-6260 rpms and 71 ish mph. With the TM off and no fishing gear, I can spin it 6400-6430 at 76 mph. I can spin a 28" promax in the same situation 6260 and 78 mph. So depends on the weight of your boat. Mine runs best with a 15.25" diameter prop versus a 14.5" or 14.75". I've tried a dozen different props on my boat, but all 4 blades....... I had a 250 SHO yamaha on it before and used the same bravo XS 25", it turned it 65-67 mph and 5900 rpms.

    Welcome aboard!

Check out Ken Smith on Youtube. He's been doing some prop testing on a new Basscat. I think he's liking 23 and 24 pitch fury. Your eyra is a little narrower so might use a pitch up from what he settled on?

You could also check out setups, at bass boat central.

I personally like the tempest better than a fury on my old champ with 225efi. (Apples to oranges.)
I've also heard good things about the Bravo fs mentioned in above post.
Try to borrow as many as possible, to find out what suits your fancy.

Welcome to scream and fly. Dittos on checking bbc for setup info. Also check the basscat forums. Great stuff there.
