Instigator rent one. Ive done that many times too its easy to try before you buy. Also i meant to mention the walmart thing which i have done during transit many times but this has declined over the years because street people are hip to this now and certain towns you have to be careful. I havent stayed at one for a long time now but Jacksonville wally mart was a bit hairy one night. That was enough for the wife. In the North and especially Canada? Far more good to go its not the same in most places there with regards to street people. The cold prevents them from rooting in i guess

We jumped into a Class A a year ago, before the market really blew up. It was slightly used, diesel pusher. pull a jeep grand cherokee for a toad. Love it when we get the time to use. And we have a dog, that was one of our reasons also, along with just comfort and sleeping in our own bed. Heading to hilton head in a couple weeks for a week. Bought a pair of ebikes and then a cheap small trailer for the dog to ride behind and carry any drinks or gear for the day. Picklball is a must and most campgrounds have courts. Super fun! And you will know its me!! LOL

We started with a 76 class C Monaco back in 95. We bought it on the cheap because it had a valve guide quitting because of the introduction of unleaded. Rebuilt the heads dropped a RV cam in with some headers and enjoyed the 440 Mopar lope and power pulling desert and river toys.
Ended up with a 99 class-A Bounder with a V-10 and single slide, not a high-end coach but had plenty of room and never let us down.
I would recommend at least the single slide "dinette and couch".Last edited by Baker343; 09-30-2022 at 10:53 PM.

They are only too big when you go to park them or store them. The downside to that unit is power and wind drift but its a lot of bang for the buck and if you can stand to drive 60 or 65 then you are fine.

I trust every word of that.
At this point, I’m thinking, something in that price range to see if we even like it.
So I’m into it for $20-25k for something I can recoup most of my investment instead of being stuck w/payments and losing my down payment.
As far as the liking it part, it is so close to the cabin cruiser thing that only thing I can see is getting scared silly in a cross wind, winding roads and as you mentioned, 60 mph.
We head to Tom Foleys river run in a few wks and are towing our 25’ Checkmate behind our one ton van and will be doing our best to run 70 mph w/it.
My normal (non towing) routine is 80 mph for 17 hrs and we’re there.
Pretty much anything slower than that makes it a 2 day trip, which I hate, and if return trip is same, I just blew 4 days.
So doing 60……, totally changes our range.
Ifffffffffff, we’re not on a schedule, then maybe……

One word of advice is stay away from rear radiator if buying a diesel. More expensive to work on

Let's just go ahead and make America great again!

You will love the convenience and comfort. I can't stand to drive slow but that is just me. I think you will find yourself going to more events then before (drag races etc.) and its feels like you have a home base. Your wife will also like it do to the fact "it feels like home" and she can retreat back to it and chill with whatever she wants while you are still out at an event. I always enjoyed taking my to the sprint car races when we were in Michigan and also would go out to the state parks on the shoreline and leave it there for a couple weeks in the summer. Kids and dogs can all go along etc.
There are several waterfront R.V. parks at LOTO now and guys use them like a cottage.

And on the small side, I just found this.
And w/the V-10 it might tow the Convincor.
Polar opposite to the 34’ class A but I like it.
Joe, more great comments.
Thank you sir!
Our last cruiser was a 36’ aft cabin that made a killer 2 bedroom cottage and the Mrs loved it!

Short story, after I joined the Navy (protecting the free world), my parents bought a camper trailer, cruising thru a town in Florida they were stopped at a red light and my dad said "Dave get me a coke, Dave says "now?", Dad said now. So, Dave jumps out of the car and goes into the camper to get a coke, light turns green, Dad takes off, going down the road Dad goes where's that coke and everybody said Dave was in the camper.
Anyways, you just refabbed your whole Checkmate, anyway you could turn your van into an overnighter, you already own it, you know it tows the boat???

Funny story.
Funny too, your idea about the van.
I was YouTubing about changing its transmission filter and it brought up videos of guys doing just.
Search e-350 and see what pops!
Absolutely AMAZING conversions!
I watched videos of two of them and was blown away.
I am curious/nervous to see how well it does pulling the boat through the mountains though.

Here is a recent quote from Lars Strom, on his OMC site post# 10149.
"First time ever I own a pull behind camper..!!
This brand new Vibe 26RK from Couch's RV Nation cost less, than two years of service/maintenance of our previously fancy motorcoaches."
