    300R 15" midsection

    .

Curious what would a 300R look like with a 15" midsection?

    here's a side-by-side with a 20" mid

Little early for silly season .. no ???

Axe Greg G. about Mercury producing motors for the average size boat guys , that would actually sell pretty good ..

Mercury can't give away a motor that doesn't have a wty .. even if it came with the cure for cancer ..

It's a no brainer for a 15" mid / 300r .. after all they gotz plenty of parts from the ill-fated ACME 360 project already in stock .... it doesn't take much imagination to see that happening ..

As far as them actually doing that .. would take someone in the aftermarket stepping up with an announcement that they have parts ready to go. Murk got biotch slapped with the 15" /300xs package .. hard enough that they don't want to make that mistake again.

99% of the 300r owners won't even do their own service work for fear of losing their wty .. so the thought of making one a 15" is a death knell for anyone building parts to do a conversion ...

I heard ... without a delivery date and MSRP is like a CRUM cut and paste .. give's ya something to waste your time reading .. with little to no substance ..

Yo , Greg G. I heard the other day ...

Looks exactly like the "black 20" from the tilt tube to the lower unit flange at the base of the can ..

    Nice try though ...

I give up, what exactly is it that you belive .. ???

While I may be handsome and intelligent, I can't read your mind ...

Sad how some can't have a conversation without the pea-nut head .. err .. gallery pouting .. then trying to set a trap .. I'll try to answer your "purposed question" .. but first .. I noticed you didn't mention a delivery date nor MSRP .. so I really don't feel I owe you an answer .. but then I'd be in the same category as you and CRUD ..

It's been a minute .. (five -ten years)

The vertigo 300 -350's were already out , as was the 7 marine. Dale said something to the effect that the next model year ... there would be 500+ HP outboards with sportmaster type lower units.

A couple - few years later the racing 400 / 2.6L came out. Maybe a year later the easily broke in half 15" mid / no wty /400 became available to people who actually raced. Another dud ...

He bought a pair of 400's ... because , yep, you guessed it .. the V-8 was still years and years away ..

So lets go with your 450 statement .. yep, it did happen. Hoping you weren't holding your breath for the truck to roll by ..

The 500's ... how many more years are left until the statute of limitations runs out on that one as well ... Ppppffftttttt

Please try harder .. I enjoy a challenge, not some weak azz attempt at a trap.

Chaz = thinkin, two things .. ok, three

#1) I already said .. they have the parts in stock .. the question remains if they have the gumption to actually sell them to the public.

#2) I think the boat in your avatar would look and run splendid with a pair of V-12's / and sportys ..

    #3) FJB

It must be the new "fleet-torque" lower, with both bullet and carrier dumps .. that has to go back to the dealer to have the oil changed ..

GC , you might right .. just adding 500 pounds to the S/S boats wasn't enough .. they need 15' mids to turn with the 300xs powered boats ... without barrel rolling ..

    On sale : A dozen pair of 20" / 300r's , low hours , only sunk once !
    Retail + 30% .. hurry, they won't last !

hoping that MercuryRacing would sell the Superstock racers the 15" midsections only, most of them already have complete 20" 300Rs on their transoms.

wouldn't make sense to have to purchase a whole new motor just to get into the 15" mids 300Rs?

Don't try to interject common sense now, noli ...

280's to 300xs to 300r to now short 300r's .. racers that are diehard to the class should have enough money left over in their retirement fund to buy some new motor's in complete form ...

If they went with the factory kit .. would they need an authorized racing dealership to install the kit to keep from voiding the wty ...

Now what are we gonna do with all these unwanted ACME 360 powerheads we got layin around .. I know, call P-1 and tell em we demand that they make them legal in S/S .. no-no, not 360 parts for sale ... powerheads !

Customer abuse at it's finest ..

its my understanding, that once the 300r's have been raced, there is no longer a warranty anyway.
I have heard rumors that there will be a boat in key west with the 15" versions, but no idea if its true
