Let‘s pull the boat with a new electric truck

Well, if you are OK with the fully charged batteries having the equivalent total energy of ~ 4 gal of gasoline and therefore a towing range of 150miles or less.

All I can say is “Make sure you pull the small boat.” and this really is not ready for prime time yet. Who would be stupid enough to buy one?

Don't worry guys Biden says "everything will be fine". You can take your family to see the county line, it will be great.

I was being generous, in the article there was an indication that if the item being towed was small and light enough that the truck could do a little better than 115miles on a full charge.

I think we all want better towing mileage, but for sure I need >400mile towing range like I currently get from my truck.

90% of my boating is done over 60 miles away from home. i wonder if the boat ramp will install charging stations for the trucks AND the boats. lol

90% of mine is done on the Savannah River. The landing is 2 miles from my home. Trailering mileage is the least of my concerns.

From the article linked in my earlier post, I was being generous with the mileage the Lightning can do towing, it’s really only going to pull ~115miles.

OK got it. Yeah EV trucks are really not ready for towing duty except for short ranges. I daily drive an EV but when it comes to towing my Dodge Diesel truck is used for that job. In my experience gas trucks, like EVs, also take a huge hit on mileage when they are used for towing something large. The problem with EV trucks vs gas trucks is the recharge time.

As they point out range would be a lot better with a more aerodynamic trailer like a 20' outboard boat or a load of PWCs. Aero matters a lot more than weight on the highway. I towed a 20' enclosed car hauler with and without a car in it on a 450 mile round trip. The trailer is say 3200 lbs. empty and 5600 with the car. Mileage was the same.
