Hey Pete, it's (the other) Pete...

I wasn't clear on whether you were going to get the rectifier and regulator in one unit, (which according the the legends here is probably the best way to go)

    OR

If it was on the table for you to try to find a regulator, separate from the rectifier, which is the setup my 1986 150 XR2 came with. Here is a youtube short I made this morning showing how it's wired:

Hope that helps. Or hope it helps a little if you get the combined unit. If I had more sophisticated electronics, I would probably go that route, too. And I might still anyway if I get enough roundtuits.

    Hey Pete.
mice been waiting on a response from cdi.
watched your video and thanks for that.
I am going down the route of regulator rectifier in one unit. I’m buying a cheap knock off from eBay to test. The cdi one is about $200 Aud. Knock off is about $20. Not expecting it to last but good way to test.
and thanks for the video again.

    keep boating!

To add to previous post I cannot find a regulator only on cdi website. They have rectifier or regulator / rectifier combos. So yes will need to buy combo.
