Recall from mercury on some of.the new 225 and 250 XS four strokes
Some of the new engines are having the shift actuators in the lower units corrode and short out putting the engine into guardian mode. A bud of mine has one with 55 hours on it. The failure stranded him 30 miles from the ramp in the everglades. Check to see if your serial number is in the recall. This is on the DTS equipped models

Shouldn't Mercury notify owners? I guess I will find out soon when I get the yearly service.
