    225 promax blown up

    Bone stock 225 promax no oil injection.. burn 4&6 pistons number 2 looks good also.. injectors or switchbox? Aluminum in 4 sleeve. 6 is just piston top burntClick image for larger version.

    Yess all black box and oil Injection removed I set timing at 25 degrees been over 2 years since taking all that off

    Smalltownbassin just went through a meltdown problem similar to yours and the switch boxes were double firing. Its awful hard to tell the cause just from the pics especially with the two main culprits out of the picture. Crappy fuel can be a problem too with detonation problems or ethanol fuels that have soaked water in.

    id say rebuild the powerhead with all new seals. Clean and flow your injectors. Check fuel pressure is ip to snuff and to be safe it might be best to replace the entire electric combo stator, switch boxes, trigger and regulators. Its easy to spend other peoples money

    There was a bulletin to set pro max ignition to 23 dgr advance
    Also what is your ecu type and vst type?
    The external and internal vst run different pressures
    You might have gotten lucky on a very light boat
    When it's rebuild you might wanna go for the adjustable fuel pressure regulator
    Go on ebay and search for mercury fuel management system/assembly for extra injectors

    this is a twin engine boat 23ft eliminator.. motor been fine at 25 degrees for many and many hrs iam in this boat everyweekend.. factory ecu. vst type is the factory vst.. was planning on going to onboard fuel pumps and running regulators and brucatos on both over the winter.. iam going to check timing on all 6 cylinders for switch box failures.. will check fuel pressure as well isnt there a test port on the vst?

    this is factory vst with pump inside the vst.. i have all the pumps and regulators to do it inside the boat thats the plan this week to swap it over and remove vst
