Favorite source to download factory manuals for newer 2.0/2.4 family?

I have come into a 2.4/200. Build dated 11-13-90, so guessing it's one of the last. I don't have a manual that covers it, with the square fuel pump and whatever scheme the solenoids are attached for the dual ram trim.

I have a paper copy of a 1983 manual and a downloaded copy from 1978, that I got from here somehow but I don't know how. Anyway, can someone guide me to the S&F approved source for downloading the manual for the late 1990 era 2.4/200?

I plan to drop the late 1990 2.4/200 powerhead on to my existing 1987 dual ram mid. Before I go to the trouble of rigging up my own way to transfer the tilt/trim solenoids from my 1987 2.0/150 to the newer powerhead, I wanted to look at a manual to see how it is done at the factory.

Plus I am unfamiliar with the square fuel pump, and wouldn't mind reading about it in the manual.

Thats a great source, thanks. BUT does not look like it covers the case of the 2.4/200. Too new. Those manuals are for the 2.5/200. Bookmarked it anyway because it's a great site though.

trying ta understand exactly what ya trying ta do??? tha solenoids didn't go away till early 90's after tha blocks changed... tha '90 2.4 is no different than any other year 2.4 as for tha tnt stuff.... they jus got moved around on later models.. tha '90 model had 40 amp stuff with tha coil plate covering a water cooled reg/rec on tha back it also held tha solenoids..

do you have a picture of tha block?.. that late inta tha production year its pushin' tha "fat block" era....

On my 2.0, the up/down solenoids are attached to the aluminum side of the air silencer box. On the 2.4/200, the air silencer box is different. I’m away from it right now on a work trip so I can’t verify, but are there screw bosses in the aluminum side of the 2.4/200 air silencer box to mount the up/down solenoids?

is there anything I need to know about the square fuel pump besides the fact it’s on the port side of the motor?

tha sq. pump is design III.. showed up on '87 production i think.. replaced tha oval thing....

Sorry for the confusion. But that powerhead (11-13-1990 build stamp), will be going on a dual ram mid from 1987. I will be selling or parting out the 1983 single ram mid the photo… too awkward fit for my boat.

    ===

Either way, I'm guessing that you don't think I should worry too much about tracking down the right manual for my late 1990 powerhead?

Thanks for this. Sorry for the noob question but By that do you mean a Mercury dealer? Do they still have old manuals like that? [EDIT: found one on ebay. Still do dealers really have these old manuals to sell?]

Clamshell. It’s dressed. Runs nicely on the muffs. Since it’s a November 1990 power head on a 1983 single ram mid, I don’t know (yet) if it has 1990 intake and carbs or 1983 intake and carbs. I’ll know more in a couple of days when I get home. Were there differences in the intake/reed block from 1983 to 1990?

As I said in a previous post, I plan to put this 2.4/200 power head on an existing 1987 dual ram mid that I had been running my 2.0/150 on. I have both the Merc 150 (“black max” lol) clamshells and the Mariner 200 clam shells.

Will do CCMS reeds and put my known-good Mercury switch boxes on it. I don’t know the origin of the switch boxes on there now. They are aftermarket but I don’t know the origin. They have that clear yellow elastomeric potting that comes on cheap Chinese boxes you see on Amazon. But then ProMarine sell boxes with clear yellow potting too for not-cheap prices. I assume the ProMarine boxes are known to be good, but I don’t really know. So the only safe course I know is to just use old original Mercury boxes I have been using on my 2.0.

gonna need pictures... a fully dressed '90 will not work with "clam shell" type cowls... thats why i asked if it has any of tha earlier motor bolt on's.. mainly tha way tha coils are mounted.. 90 model had a coil plate (screw bosses) mounted to tha divider for coils.. used a "drop on" type cowl.. no mounts for a "clam shell" bracket....

looks like they used bolt on parts from older motor.. normal thing ta do with most folks....reason tha clam shell is on it... heads have been off so a new "short block" ('90 model) stands ta reason..... ya might need a different manual jus ta cover tha bolt on stuff.. its all different from tha '90 model... by bolt ons, i'm referin' to tha heads, divider, reed plate, carbs, flywheel, chargin' stuff, etc........
all 200 2.4 stuff from '84 ta '90 will interchange but some of tha bolt ons changed but will still work on any of tha motors above.. tha biggest change is with tha chargin' system but yours still has tha 16 amp (pre '89/'90) stuff... there are a few '89/'90 motors that had tha 16 but most had tha water cooled 40....

has old style enrichner also.. whats date on starter?

also remember we fab up a bracket (believe it was 1"x3"x 1/8" alum. angle) that attached with tha two top screws of tha reed plate that we mounted tha solenoids side X side on...
