    Shed find 1983 Merc 200 hp/Finger Port/Horiz 5 pedal

They are still out there if you look around I guess ?
    I Got Lucky !
Been sitting in a shed for decades, never been within 500 miles of Ocean/Salt, pulled out for estate sale, compression was good 120+/6 so fed it an water pump impeller and took it for a spin.

No wonder it got parked by the old fella ?
Holy sh*t batman... waaay too much motor for the 1973 16.5ft Galsspar it repowered.
Dunno how accurate those old speedo's are ? but I chickened out at 55 mph and still climbing fast !

Did some research... apparently 1983 was first year prop rated so honest 200hp at the prop, 2.4L finder Port, Horizontal 5 pedal.
All I know is the damn old Glasspar thing goes like a raped ape ! surprised the transom is still attached ?

Nice old nostalgia/retro piece, and just as nice inside when the clam shells removed.
Gonna feed it some Chris Carson Fiber reeds for safety, stuffers/jetting and clean up the old Glasspar to pull the kiddies around tubing all day.

Nice Find. They don't build them like that anymore. I first went to Merc school that year. Last year with Blue decals for a while. The next year they were Tan followed by Red/ silver.

Making sure I have my Mercury lore down right… This would have the single ram trim, with the remote/inboard mounted pump, right?

Super jealous of your amazing find. Enjoy.

And once you replace your 2.0 with it on your 18 footer, please report back. Super interested to see how it goes, since my 2.4/200 will also go on an 18 footer.

    Not 100% sure, but I think 1984 was 1st year of prop shaft rated HP. In 1983 the 2.0L were 150 & 175, the 2.4's were 200 & 225.

I have a 1984 2.4 200 on a 1984 Cougar 19 tunnel. Oil injection still working OK but I still add a little oil just to be safe.

Chris Carson said '1983' was first year Prop rated hp.... and best/only year for Finger Port heights which by '84 were higher ?
