    V4stator instal 94 v6

Dose anyone have a good wiring diagram for the gold flywheel? I had a magnet come out of my wheel at idol and it pinched a charge coil. I epoxied the magnets in the wheel and tested. The motor lost spark on 1,3 and 5. I replaced the stator and have great spark on all six cranking. The motor spins up to 3500 and that’s it( most of the time). Other times it will hit 5500 for a few seconds. I just want to cover all the bases before I replace the power pac.

    thanks

If running a gold race wheel on a V6 you need a V6 stator from a 79 to 83 10 amp crossflow. Most V4 stators only have one charge coil and thus needs to be split for a V6 and will not supply enough energy.

I used a 583104. Listed to fit 90-175. At least that’s what I was lead to believe. It dose have two charge coils.

The 583104 is listed as a 3/9 amp stator meaning originally for a 2 pack V4 with or without trim. The original V4 had two different stators depending on trim to have extra charge capability. It does eventually sub to the same stator that the 79 and newer V6 subs to, that is 583672. The 583672 is a 10 amp stator. I did not go back to see which V4 the 583104 was originally for but seeing the first 3 digits are 583 that tells me it was also a sub and often IMO parts that are sub to fit many different engines are not ideal for a specific use. I did not find any V6 that subs to the 583104 but did to the 583672. Crowley marine does show what you have to work on a V6 but did not find that on factory site. IMO you need to verify output to the coils with the engine at 2500 with a peak reading volt meter, should have 250 or more.

Racer, thank you for all the cross checking and research.

I looked into a peak reading volt mete(after trying every volt meter in my shop) seaway was the only source I could find. Due to the cost I started this thread.

    Thanks for the help!

Racer, the peak voltage meter arrived today. Out of the stators charge coils I’m getting 136 VDC, with no grounding. This is only six volts above minimum spec according To my book. Dose this sound correct to you?
    thanks again for your help.

IMO you need to check with them running as crank speed can effect output. Thru the years I found engines tend not to turn up with less than 250 to each coil at 2500 or higher
