    Optimax Gearcase Help - Wrong Pinion Spline Count

    Hey guys,
    I need a bit of help finding what part I need here. I have a 225 Optimax gearcase that I am converting from 25" to 20". I ordered the driveshaft from Merc based on serial number, but the one I got is wrong. Everything seems right, except for the spline count on the pinion gear. The spline count on the shaft I received is 13. The original pinon gear is a 19 spline. I can't seem to track down what is going on, or what this case was off originally.

    If I can't figure this out I will send it out to Chris Carson for shortening, but with shipping times and pricing, it will take longer, and be the same cost as a replacement shaft.

    Any help is appreciated.

    I have a 20" shaft of exactly what you need. I ordered it on accident trying to get a 13 spline one and got a 19. New in box from mercury I'll sell it to you at dealer cost if you need it! 20"

    Just wanted to post and update. Everything is back together with a 20" 19 spline shaft. To answer your question Dave, everything is the same 2 bearing setup, except the pinion spline count is different. It looks like there was a short perior where they used this driveshaft.

    HUGE THANKS to 25two.stroke for trading shafts with me, and also to Chris Carson for taking the time to answer some questions and look at what I had going on here, both are stand up guys!
