Did you say you do or do not have a working water pressure gauge? If so, what is your pressure at wide-open throttle now? Do you have any more room to go up on your jack plate?

BC, Did you lower the trailer tongue until the bottom of your boat was parallel to the ground, use a level to determine that. Then, trim your motor down until the cavitation plate is also level. Then you simply use a tape measure to measure from the floor to the bottom of the boat and from the floor to the center of the prop shaft and subtract the two values.

Before taking that picture I eyeballed it and levelled the trailer first, and then used the trim on the motor to eyeball level it as well. It's about 1.5" from prop shaft CL to bottom of pad. A bubble level may show me to be 1/4" or so off but I think I got it pretty close by eyeballing it.

Yes the water psi gauge is good. It is up over 20 psi at WOT. I would have to run it again to get an exact number but it seems to be maintaining pressure. And yes, I could go up another 1" or so on the jackplate.

Good! Start walking it up 1/4" at a time and see what she does. We have to balance your increased performance with your loss of water PSI. Can't fully sacrifice the former for the latter. And she might not like it 1/4" up. If not, then bring her back down. Try it and see. You might end up 3/4" higher and loving it. But do it 1/4" at a time and report back. Watch for blowout getting on plane and loss of water PSI at all RPM's. Want 15 psi or better if possible, at least on a MErc.

OMC guys, what water PSI does he need to maintain?

OK. Will do. ...now I just need to figure out how to make that old jackplate motor spin. There's wires going to it. No control panel switch makes it spin. Will start with locating fuse etc. Thanks!
