Fireworks gone VERY wrong
You know, growing up on Long Island we would make a run to Chinatown every year to buy fireworks - the fun kind, like M80s. I'm sure most of us had done pretty dumb things with fireworks when we were younger, but I have to say, the video below is on an entirely new level. It seems nobody was hurt, but that was one heck of a show. Looks like they were trying to launch rocket or something that malfunctioned, and then set off their big stash behind the van.

Wow thats some show! Lucky they didnt burn the van and more to the ground. I always liked jumping jacks. If you timed it right and chucked em in the air they would spin and fly.

We used to have a big July 4th when we had the cabin on the river. Spent thousands of dollars between several of us and put on quite a show. One year we had a friend show up after we had cooked all of our stuff and wanted to launch a few mortars. That year, for whatever reason, we had only 3, 4, and 5 inchers so we used the 6" tube for water and to hold the brush. (we always had water and a brush to be sure tube was clear of any burning embers from previous launch before we dropped another slug). He had brought 6 inchers and when he dropped one in it landed in the water at the bottom of the tube. It went off and got within a 1 1/2 from the exit of the tube then wedged in place and a couple seconds later went off. This tube was a 6" steel pipe 3/8" thick and it expanded the steel pipe about an inch. Scared the crap out of me but luckily no injuries. The following year, takes some of us longer to learn, we tried to be more careful and kept everything in the back of a pickup with a covered bed. Believe it or not a simple bottle rocket caught a limb and turned directly into the back of the truck thru and unbelievably small opening and set it all off. We got lucky again but I put an end to the July 4th celebrations at the cabin. That was about ten years ago and I still have some left over mortars sitting in my office. Be careful guys it goes bad really quick.

I would love to be a "fly on the wall" for that call to the insurance company.
