Out of hibernation sleeping 14 years
Just pulled her out of storage (14 yrs). Belonged to my stepson Rick who passed away while in the process of redoing her. My daughter has been the keeper of her brothers boat. I've decoded her HIN - Action Marine 1982 18 foot, 26th unit built, build month was December.
She was pushed by a 3.0 Johnson, which we have and intend to put back on after a rebuild. Family Boat now and I get the honor to rebuild her.
Here's one of my dilemmas: Not knowing what the under floor structure should look like. There currently is no floor. That's kinda my starting point.
Looking for folks that I can pick their brain and nudge me in the right direction as I bring her back to life.
Two end goal for me. First will be seeing my daughters face when their brothers boat looks and runs like they remember it.
Second will be running her at 70 plus. When Rick was alive she was gunned at 94.
I just finished refurbishing a 24' SunTracker Party Barge (which is for sale). My main squeeze is a 27' Sea Ray Sundancer.
Anyway "Thanks" for reading all this. Ron W

Welcome to scream and fly, Ron. That’s a sad story about your stepson but it’s cool that you guys kept it in the family. This should be a really rewarding build. I look forward to seeing your pics and following your build on here. I’m sure there will be plenty of people that come along that can help you know exactly what to do. I rebuilt my shadow 10 years ago and I still love it today.

Greatly Appreciated
Hello and Thanks to everyone
Yes I'm defiantly going to need some help along the way. Here are some pictures of the interior subfloor structures.
There is an almost beam to beam platform - rectangular in shape. I'm 99.9% sure it supports the two front seats.
In the stern, encased in glass, is a vertical board, again almost beam to beam. It has two, one on each side, boards attached about 1 foot or so long facing bow to stern. My question is - Is this all there is to support the floor?

Be sure to plow around in here, too. You might ask Greg to move your thread from General to this one

You also want t look in the fiberglass and composites forum. I wonder if Restorations isn't new--I believe there are many rebuilds in the Fiberglass and Composites section. I bet you can successfully search for a rebuild of a similar era Action.
I have no idea if Barney built those boats in that era with core in the hull. Likely yes. I am certain that the transom has wood in the structure. 14 years in a barn is a good thing, but before you start rebuilding the floor you want to be sure that, if it has core, the core is solid. And that the transom is solid. Again I don't know, but I bet the boat had stringers running for and aft from the transom to in front of the seats, with the floor sitting on them. You may want to see if Rick spoke with anyone 14 years ago about his plans for the restoration to see what he felt needed to be done.Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."
