Super Stock Class is very competitive

    .

    Really enjoy watching this class.

Yes there are times when the rough seas eat up these hulls, and we hold our breathe to be sure the 2 racers come out unscathed

Over the years more emphasis is on safety and rightfully so , with divers ready to jump into the water to extract the racers

It is a great class. I enjoy the fact the boat go fast enough to test ones abilities. To win you need to race smart, take care of your equipment and understand your and your boats limitations.

Steele had a tough break. After testing and before the race the were forced to add 400 some odd lbs. Totally outrageous!

correct me here please but I thought the 30 footers (Steele Industries 300R motors) did not have to follow the weight rules of the bigger 32 foot cats ?

the additional 400 lbs may have been a contributing factor in causing them to flip?

they were screaming fast at LOTO's Lake race , and took home the checkered flag!

In the rules set for the season the 30 foot boats weighted less. There was also a weight allowance per inch of less tunnel width. Not sure the exact wording.
After testing was closed there was a meeting and the rule changed to more of a straight class wide weight.

It would be hard to argue the added weight didn't contribute to their incident.

I know nothing about racing...matter of fact I'm scared of high speed...but doesn't it make sense not to change rules mid-season?

..for the simple reason of safety , cost , cat balance , not enough lead time for racers to make mental and physical adjustments..

Yes I agree. Pretty sure there is a rule on the books saying no rule changes during the season. It was reckless to make a change and not give teams time to test.

not sure what happened here (the 3rd incident) ... there were no boats near FJ Propellers race team, hit a wave and over it went

To add 400 lbs. securely fastened in the right places in short order is Ludicrous.

    Majority rules,

    majority has new big boats

now I understand why others did not show.
We have invented the world; WE see

Noli, That was the first. It happened at first buoy from start. For a moment he was in the lead. LPC was to his right and Jackhammer was in his left.

On Facebook Turgut Kaynak shared a video of boats approaching that first mark.

I agree the weight should not have been added to the 30' , but, just to clarify, it was done BEFORE testing had opened on Saturday and NOT after it had closed. For several years the same people, ALL with 32' boats have always lobbied to have ONE weight in the class..... at that point there is ZERO reason to have anything other that a 32' boat......

I hear ya Ryan however the total weight for the boats should be a calculation including length, tunnel width etc. Seems like they should add weight in materials to make them stronger these days.

Again I know nothing about racing, and I don't know about the racer's sentiment on the race course, but it seems that Steele Industries wins 1 race and the rules are quickly changed?

I feel the board should have observed a few more races then make plans to change the rules over the winter (off-season)

No they didn't change the rule .. right away. If they did that, it would have been May 22nd, or Monday the 23rd .. give them overnight to sleep on it.

Instead as Ryan said .. they made the announcement on Saturday July 2nd just before practice .

It would be different they said, OK, you guys won a race .. you also earned a 25 lb lead trophy .. but no, here ya go ... throw 400 in the boat with ya.

I see on the P-1 website that there is a new partnership deal with Mercury racing.

All 32's , all porkchops , all the time .. is their new motto ... 🙃

    Chaz = wunderin :

Do all new boats come with a half inch of bondo to make weight .. ?

Shouldn't the inner glass / carbon be stuck to the foam good enough to at least pull the logo off of the foam before seperating .. ???

Just axing for a friend ...
