    24 Superboat CC 300R steering

I’m in the process of rigging my boat and had a few questions about what steering setups people have been having success with. The motor is a 300R with a torquemaster lower and standard front tiller arm steering. I would’ve loved to get a wingplate HD motor but this was what was available and I also needed a TQMaster lower which is not available on a wingplate motor from my understanding. I bought the UFLEX silversteer UC130 steering kit which also came with a fixed 25cc hydraulic helm, the cylinder is extremely heavy duty compared to some others I have seen from seastar. The motor is mounted on a seastar extreme 12” hydraulic jackplate. My question is should I add Mercury Verado power steering to this setup? If so should I use the 40cc or 33cc helm? I really think I will need a tilt helm so if I just keep it standard hydraulic should I order the 33cc UFLEX silversteer tilt helm instead of the included 25cc fixed? I also have a seastar Sport Plus 40cc tilt helm laying around but it is only rated to 1000psi compared to the 1500 psi of the silversteer helm. I am concerned about the rigidity of the tiller arm steering compared to a wingplate setup and have heard adding power steering will stiffen everything up but not sure if this is true. This isn’t a race boat and should only do maybe 70-75mph. My prior closed deck 24 Superboat had a 300xs and marine machine wingplate setup and it was great. These boats tend to chine walk at high speed so I know how important steering feedback and countersteering is to be able to control these boats properly. Thank you for any advice in advance.

I have a front mount Sea Star tournament series and a sea star power assist on my tri-toon and it works great with no feedback. The motor is very solid but I could also see it being over reactive in a chine walk situation-we pulled the power assist out of my Allison for that very reason.

That looks interesting Noli, any idea what PSI that puts out? I wound up going with Mercury Verado Gen C power steering pump and 40cc told helm going to the UFLEX silversteer cylinder, hopefully its solid.

    Hi K,

There is no pressure measurable like the hydraulic system does

The rod inside the actuator is being pushed/pulled electro-magnetically

If you can visit a boat show soon, the Dometic engineers can better explain than me

Can you even buy that for a single? Can't find any info online other than promotional.

I ended up with the Uflex UC130 and 2.0 Helm for fewer turns lock to lock.

K-WELLS, personally I don't think you'll need power steering with that 1.5 helm you'll have 5.3 turns lock to lock and effort will be low.

Do not use electronic .I have been installing on some autonomous boats and it does not respond fast enough for a v bottom.Failure rate is more than hydraulic also.Give me a ring Noli i can go into more detail.
