Big ear. It can be cut pretty much identical to an ET. My cut Chopper is actually a couple tenths quicker than my real ET.

I have a really nice 26 big ear i wouldnt mind cutting. For whatever reason small ears keep finding their way to me i picked up a well used but perfectly solid 28 small ear yesterday by fluke. I blew it on a brand new 28 mach because i thought it was a no name knock off. It wasnt til a few days later I remembered the V8 Johnrude OB record was set with a mach prop.

I have a really nice 28 small ear in my prop cabinet. Haven't run it in at least 15 years. I stuck it on because it's never been tested with my current setup. It was just eeeh. The 28 big ear ET cut (my "everyday" prop) outperforms it across the board in every category.

Hard to beat an ET. The limited life span they have makes me nervous every time I run it. Are the cut chopper ETs less likely to crack?

I believe they are more durable. Not sure if it's the alloy or just a little thicker. Been running the cut one for 10 years now, the last five 1" above the pad and it's still goin strong. The real ET seems to only get used for testing, too damn expensive for "everyday wear".

I have big ear 28p that would be of more use as an ET. It has way too much bow lift for my King....

Almost like which oil is best
Tim Bostic at Hoss did mine and I'd have him do another in a second, but he's had health issues and I'm not sure how much he's working these days. Rich Junker in Fla is probably a good choice, also BBlades, and Performance Propeller in Soddy Daisy, Tn.Living in the Freedom provided by Bud Conner and his fellow warriors.

Small ears are very thin. I was asking out of curiosity because my Vandal loves small ear choppers and thought maybe an et cut small ear would ice the cake. Dont want to trash good props though so i dont think i will cut any.

They cut the back of the blade off to make an ET I think, so on a small ear gets really thin. A stock small ear on a high prop shaft fast boat don't last long anyway with a V6, for me anyway. My 30 small ear worked great on my OMC and viper, but then ran it on my vking with HP Merc and it cracked right away with the RPM much higher and more power. I do like small ear props as they do perform closer to an ET/Drag style. My vking loves ET and Drag props. My go to for river is 26, 28, or 30 yamaha. I am too poor to get ET's!
