Bud is one of the most stand up guys I have ever met. He’s been a mentor and a friend, we didn’t speak on the phone often but when we did a quick call would turn into a two hour conversation about fast boats, engines, and life in general.

As someone already said, Bud is one of the good guys.

I read Bud’s message on FB this morning, it was a hell of a blow to wake up to. If you know the kind of guy that Bud is you’ll know that he’s accepted this and made peace with it. It’s going to be much more difficult for his family and friends than it will for Bud. Please pray for his family in their time of loss.

Godspeed Bud, I hope to see you again on the other side my friend.

Would it be out of line to copy Bud's FB page msg here? I went and searched it and read it but not everyone here uses FB. It was a message of strength, peace and understanding by the man himself. Just helped to understand a little better. God's Blessing to Bud and his family

This is respectfully copied from Bud's FB page. I never met him but have certainly seen his passion for his fellow friends and boaters, as well as his competitive nature in racing. Pretty awesome Bud if you get a chance to read this, my hat is off to you!

Well I finally got out of the hospital after being in and out since April 21 emergency General admission ICU dealing with more testing than I can count or remember specialist your name it. No matter how bad you feel or what condition you’re in Nothing feels as good as being home. I’ve allowed a very few choice people for reasons I won’t get into to publicize my condition on other forms. Simply put an in a nutshell I have stage four abdominal cancer. There’s no cure or no treatment to correct it or put it in remission. Chemotherapy is not the best choice as it will cause my health to deminish quicker and what quality of life I remain to have will go completely away. I’m only hanging around for short. I got a few loose ends I’d like to get a tied up. I’ve made my peace with God personally so whenever it’s time I’m ready and I’m not afraid. It’s been great knowing everyone yeah not everyone was great. That’s me in a nutshell. Hoping that everyone understands I am not accepting visitors unless pre-notified. I don’t have the energy to respond to a lot of texting or messaging. I wake up some mornings feeling good and immediately crash. I wake up some mornings feeling bad and get better throughout the day. Day by day is a crapshoot I hope everyone understands if I don’t respond to you immediately or at all. Has nothing to do with anyone personally. Oh my funeral arrangements are made and paid for only thing left unknown is the date. A person never really knows how close some of his friends really are until it comes to times like this. It also goes to show how far friends you thought were close really weren’t. One is a shocking joy The other is a shocking disappointment. I’ve never had something come up on me so rapidly and affect me so quickly as this has. Like a thief in the night unannounced. Only leaving a trace. I wish everyone that reads this happiness and long life.

I’m beyond words. Bud is somebody that is not only a huge part of our community and sport, but a great friend. Why is it always the good people that cancer rears its head?? Bud, you and your family are in my thoughts, and always will be with my prayers for your recovery. I’m always here, no matter what you need. I’m just so sad and sorry Bud.

I was fortunate and unfortunate to have a good talk with my buddy last weekend, the whole thing sucks but is what it is. Bud was one of the most honest straight up people a guy could know. Some did not like that but to bad. Very caring giving man and is best guy to have on your side. He has helped many, a perfectionist in his work an a great warped sense of humor. The world is better place with him in it.
