One thing I learned working at a full service gas stations in high school is, if you need a lot of weight to balance a tire you need to rotate the tire 180 deg. on the rim.

I worked at a truck stop in high school. Had extra credits so at mid term, I was going to school half a day and working full time.

And I agree on that. Fixed a lot of car tires too. Back in the day when we lit glue and patches on fire to get them to adhere better! LOL!

Most people don't know the valve stem is the lightest part of the wheel (supposedly). There is a marked spot on the tire that is supposed to be matched up with the valve stem... And no one does it. Thank God for computer balancers!

I had a problem once with run out. The wheel, steel, was just bent enough to cause problems. Aluminum wheels fixed that!

Mine only have one dot?... And I think red... But yes. Like I said, thank God for computer balancers!!!... The tire monkeys we have couldn't function with out them! The dots are never matched up!

I have a set of 17x9s going on the Camaro. Thinking about sticky tires all around. Going with lead weights again.

I hated working with split rims. Sledge hammer to take em off and a steel cage to check mounting and full inflation without getting killed.

The three piece widow maker was the worst. We used to use a single post lift and put the tire wheel under it and air it up standing behind a wall working a ball valve. I remember one of the keeper rings on a three piece trying to work its way off as I was airing it up. Let the air out, took a hammer and beat it back down.

I don't get how these work. If you have a heavy side the centrifugal force would make that side try to expand away from the wheel. Why wouldn't the beads go THERE?

Legend has it that the beads are actually little space craft with tiny little aliens inside. Many moons ago it was discovered that the aliens sole purpose in life is to balance out the universe.

Upon discovering their purpose the evil people who run the tire industry started capturing these aliens and their space craft only to insert them into tires mounted on wheels. These little aliens think the inside of a tire is the universe and spend their every waking moment keeping the tire balanced.

Now if you have ever dismounted an old tire from a wheel you know it stinks inside. That is because the tiny little aliens dump their septic tanks and bath water inside the tire.
