YAMAHA POWERHEAD QUESTION What Powerheads Will Work On a V6 Excell Mid-section
I am trying to figure out what powerheads will bolt up and work on a V6 Excell mid-section. I have an old complete Excel with a bad powerhead that i would like to use on a fishing boat I am putting together.
So my question is; how new of a powerhead could I use. I think all of the old carbureted V6 stuff would bolt right up but how about the newer fuel injected motors. OX66, HPDI, Optimax.
Thanks in advance for your input. I've been on Scream And Fly for a long time, I don't often post but It's proven to be a great resource for an outboard enthusiast. Thanks again.

Yamaha 2.6 ltr V-6 including carb, OX66 and I think HPDI. Excel is a 225, big block 225-250 will not fit.

That's the info I was looking for, it sounds like any 2.6 liter will bolt up. Thanks for the response.
