2.4 7 petal front half

Clamshell would still fit. You would need a 7 petal reed plate to go with it, and a set of 7 petal reeds, but all of those are for sale around here right now from different people...It would be a good improvement for your xr4, they like the increased flow. If you have questions about specifics of bolting it all together and what you need to make it work send me or someone else on here thats done it before a private message and we will help you out.

On a carb motor , more flow not always better , u would have to turn that motor 8k+ to actually notice the ex power , and bottom end won't b as strong, if it was efi I'd say yes it will make big improvement. Just my .02. If You go back thru the archives here , u will find 75% of people will say same thing

Also the only carb motos that came with 7 pedal was the old 2.4 225. , 91 2.5 200 (made 1 yr) and the 2.5 245. , which went to efi shortly after to make the 260. Just food for thought

I’m wit Merc on this one. Not so bad on light boat, but if ya a little on tha heavy side, ya loose to much low end wit tha carbs. The lower velocity stinks and harder to get carbs right so they won’t load at extended idles also. Have run both set ups, my 7 petal may get another mph or so (questionable), but my 4 petal will skull drag it getting there.
