    EPA Boosts Ethanol Content!

Thanks a lot! It's bad enuf that ethanol is in fuel to begin with but now the EPA has given incentive to farmers to grow corn to make more of it!? Which means higher food and beef prices!

10 yrs ago when they were debating going from 5% content to 10% content, the marine manufacturers association did a survey of all businesses marine related of what they saw and thought.

    I responded.

Response was 100% negative from the Marine business side of it.

They have a lobbyist group in Washington.
Didn’t mean **** to them and they gave us 10%!

They sent the same questionnaire around when they were talking about going from 10 to 15% I didn’t even respond!

Total freaking politicians being paid by Lobbyist!

Other than the market price for corn and sorghum resulting from increased demand, what incentive has the EPA given to farmers?

Almost all farmers get money directly from the federal government for a variety of reasons. But none of those payments are for raising corn for ethanol. The mandates congress passed for renewable fuels certainly creates demand for ethanol and that does affect the price of corn.

So who has seen E15 at the pump? I haven't, all E10 or EO. And E15 is not approved for any marine use.

I'm in the performance industry and deal with ethanol on a daily basis. It is not nearly as corrosive as people think. Can it? Sure, but let any fuel sit and it can destroy stuff. I'm not going to get involved in the political or business side of the argument. However, when it comes down to it the higher E content boosts octane in our subpar fuels.

I don't think any blame was pointed at the farmers. The blame is pointed at the EPA/Gov doing dumb things driving up the costs of things every day people need every day unnecessarily by poor policy.

And marine fuel contains 0% ethanol. So, what's your point.

As someone who rigorously maintained my marine and all of my off road engines, MBTE or Ethanol has never cause me one operational problem. I do not hesitate to use 10 or 15% eth in anything I have today.

It makes for a cleaner running engine too, if you use it and your boat is not a trailer queen. Especially if the fuel is "top tier".

There was an article in today’s paper stating that burning food for fuel during the worst grain shortage in decades is criminal. Ukraine used to supply grain to a lot of the world. Expect food prices to keep rising.
