we are keeping the trees
We live on a private road on a lake. There are 15 cottages here and we all know each other. A new guy bought next door to my mother, a few doors down the road from our place. He stopped by the other day and suggested we could cut down our trees to improve the view. He has one tree and he plans to get it cut down.
We are of course keeping the trees. Our place is behind the J-Craft on the right. The boat on the left is my neighbor's Regal.

Make him an offer, 10k a tree, he pays for total tree removal and filling in of the hole tree removal will cause. You choose which trees will be removed.

Good for you. Had a similar problem. We had English ivy covering and blocking our view. I was ready to cut the trees down, and my neighbor cut the vines and applied some poison. Vines died shorty after and were easy to pull down. The new lots they are selling are being cleared of all trees and landscaped.

We see the trees as part of the view. In addition, we have left the land near the shoreline natural for over 10 years. The new guy paid $1.3M Cdn, so he has a million dollar view, LOL. There is no problem, just different views about nature.

I keep my lakefront view open because it involves Whiteface Mountain and a two-time Olympic village.
