    Delaminated?

    Hi everyone,

came across this and was wondering is it delaminated or a set of bad repairs? The guy is very transparent sent me all the pics said it scraped the river bottom

it’s cheap and was thinking may be good for a next winter project.

Mine looked similar in some places. I dont think thats delaminated. On my hull the factory chop had become whitened from what looks to be trailer impacts. There was a few small spots in other places like that too. While it felt solid’ish meaning we discovered this after the entire layup was completed, i was still very nervous to leave it alone so we ground out the bad spots and laid 1708 and 1oz csm over the entire hull.

The main problem isnt the strike damage its the really poor quality factory glass. Every spot i had when i ground into it was full of pinholes and came apart with almost no effort. Took a lot of time to skin and fare that all back out

The bow damage is from scraping in the sand when power beaching the boat. The gouge in the side and strake looks like he smacked into a rock during the beaching. The damage around the pad and transom has me stumped. Can’t think of how you would gouge up that edge. Maybe by dragging the stern up on the sand so it’s anchored bow out?

I agree with the statement that it does not look to be delamination. Just looks like some repairs that were made in haste. If you are looking for a project anyway and the price is right, it will probably be just fine once you repair it properly.

Looks like repairs to the pad area were made by grinding off the original gel coat and what he put over it has actually chipped off pretty badly, in the one pic you can see it looks like the whole under side from the middle to the transom has been repaired in some way or another...look at the inner chine it is not straight at all... Looks repairable with a bunch of efforts you will need to flip that one over, hopefully the damage does not go any further than the gel, first fiberglass layer...maybe it just looks bad from the staining sitting in the water

Ended up with a different voyager, needs not nearly as much work. I will say with this 04 i was a bit suprised how loud the waves are against the hull. Boat drives amazing first thing to go is the 300X to my 250XS or 2.5.... The 300X has enough power to stain the drivers seat but eats to much gas/oil even at lower RPMs and is not well mannered for the no wake zones etc. i need to go through. I used 3-4X the amount of gas approx. in the same amount of time as my 250XS when cruising in the 3000RPM range but it def. has WAY more power and is in another world in that department.

Are these composite cored? or no core maybe? The good thing is i have gotten some great interior ideas from it for the Vegas im rebuilding

Loud is good. Mushy hulls are nice and quiet and ride soft.
